Serves 12

We all remmber the pans and pans of Kugel that Ema made for Nachman's Bar-mitzva and then again for Reuven's Brit. Sweet and  moist, filling the house with a  childhood  aroma, it never comes out as good as Ema's.



Ingredients:

200 gr. wide egg noodles
2 tbs. margerine
2 no. 2 eggs - beaten
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins


Preparation:

  • Cook noodles according to package instructions.
  • Return noodles to pot, add margerine and mix.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix.

There are two ways of cooking the kugel:

Baked:

  • Pour mixture into a  greased pyrex pie pan.
  • Cover and bake for 30 min. at medium heat.
  • Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes.

Fried:

  • Heat 1 tbs. oil in frying pan.
  • Pour mixture into hot pan.
  • Lower the heat, cover and cook untill botton browns.
  • Turn over and cook other side.
