Serves ~ 30
This one was one of Safta's ideas for my birthday party this year. It makes a great artistic plan for a party for any age and the kids feel like they have a place to express themselves at last. No need to remark that it was a really good idea and everybody really enjoyed it. :)
Ingredients:
4-6 |
Ice-cream boxes different kinds (best to keep 'em simple flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cappuccino…) |
~200 gr |
Chinese pecans |
1 |
Box of Oreos chocolate cookies |
~200 gr |
Package of peanuts |
~300 gr |
Mekupelet chocolate (3 colors recommended) |
2 containers |
Ready to spray, whipped cream (one of them can be chocolate flavored) |
1 |
Package of Dulce De Leche (milk caramel) |
1 |
Jar of strawberry confiture that safta makes (in my case, she just happed to have a jar in the refrigerator that I can borrow) |
1 |
Bottle of chocolate syrup |
1 |
Box of chocolate candy to spread (in my case, it was forgotten in the closet…) |
1 |
Box of candy cherries |
Optional… |
Coconut powder, peanut butter, sliced fruits and whatever pops in to your head. (This is the place to go wild - people will appreciate it later, trust me!)

Preparation:
1. The most important thing in this buffet is the presentation, of course, and the variety (but we took care of that all ready.) so find some small bowls to put the addings in.
2. In a food processor, chop the dry addings (separately!): oreos, peanuts, mekupelet, pecans etc… until it becomes a powder (but not too thin.). put each one in a small bowl.
3. you won't have a lot of time to fiddle with it in the party itself (go on and enjoy yourself a little! You deserve this after all the hard work!) so prepare in advance all the serving dishes: 4-5 ice-cream spoons (at least one has to make noises of an animal), small spoons to serve every adding, enough bowls to make the creations, spoons and so on.
4. Heat the dulce de leche, so it is liquid enough to drizzle all over. (better to do that just before serving)
5. This is a tricky part, which I didn't think of in advance. When the time for the ice-cream buffet has come, you have to work quickly because the kids are curios and pushy, they probably don't let you move around to organize the things. Put all the small bowls with the dry addings and all the other addings too. The ice-cream boxes should come last (nobody eats before I say so!).
6. Explain everyone what is every adding, you can put little notes instead but they'll probably be stained with ice-cream soon enough.
7. Watch the creations of the kids and look at the enthusiastic-ever happy-smiling faces of every one.
8. Don't forget to take a picture of each one with his creation!
9. This is the time to collect the compliments.
10. Good luck!
