Jean_favicon.jpg Apple Sauce

Serves ??

Just like with apples for the apple pie - Ema used to ask the "yarkan" for cheap rotten apples "for kompot", cut away the rotten parts, and nobody knew the secret ingredient. This is proof that you can use any type of apples.

Serve the Apple Sauce with turkey, chicken, Hannuka lattkes or... what the heck, it's so good you want to eat it as is, from the serving dish with the serving spoon - just don't let anyone see...

Ingredients:

some Apples, cheapest you can find
to taste Sugar, if the apples are sour
to taste Lemon, if the apples are sweet
a little Water

Preparation:

  1. Peal apples, cut away cores and any rotten parts
  2. Cook apples in pot with water, sugar (if needed) and lemon juice (if needed), till soft
  3. If too wattery then boil off extra water
  4. Cool and mash with fork or coarsly chop in food processor

note - If overcooked it may become pink. Obviously it can't be served that way, so start a new batch for the guests and eat the pink apple sauce yourself.
